 we are watching the Tagalog dubbed version of the hit K Drama Twinkling Watermelon, which like many K dramas is about the coming of age story, an aspiring musician, family stresses, young love, and with a twist: The protagonist is a CODA, a child of deaf parents.


but I was puzzled: Because although I did study ASL once to help me with patients, I couldn't follow the signs: I just assumed it was because I am rusty. But no: It is because Korean Sign Language is not related to American sign language, but is an offshoot of Japanese sign language.

Ironically, ASL is also not the same as British Sign Language, but closer to French Sign language because the first teachers came from there.

and Philippine sign language is influenced by ASL 

ASL and other sign languages have their own grammar etc. but in one variation, some people use a direct sign for each word.
